How do I order a wreath? (2024)

On this page you will find information about:

  • Placing an order for a wreath by telephone.
  • Ordering wreaths online from the Poppy Shop.
  • Ordering wreaths online from Lady Haig's Poppy Factory Scotland.

Wreaths can be ordered any time of year from the Poppy Shop or by calling the Royal British Legion Supporter Care team directly.

Please note that wreaths needed for Remembrancetide should be ordered early, as pressure is considerable from October onwards.

Wreath and poppy making provides employment for members of the Armed Forces Community who make them at the Poppy Factory and Lady Haig's Poppy Factory Scotland. Many ex-service personnel, veterans and dependants who are living with health conditions are supported on their journey to employment by the production of poppies and wreaths.

Frequently asked questions

You can order a wreath from us at any time of the year, subject to availability.

Please allow plenty of time for delivery and at least ten working days if ordering in October or November.

Due to high demand for wreaths from September onwards, we strongly recommend orders for Remembrance activities are placed as early as possible as all orders are subject to stock availability and delivery timeframes. We may be unable to guarantee a delivery date for Remembrance activities for orders placed from 23rd October onwards.

Regrettably we are no longer able to place wreath orders for shipment overseas. This is due to an internal review where the shipping and administrative costs associated with overseas deliveries are no longer viable for us as a charity.

We are still able to ship overseas to Embassies, High Commissions and BFPO Addresses through diplomatic mail channels.

We understand that in the case of a funeral it may not be possible to plan ahead. Orders for funeral wreaths can be accepted at shorter notice and we will do everything we can to ensure it arrives with you in time.

If you require 24 hour delivery, please ensure you place your order by 11:30am the day before the wreath is required (weekdays only). An express delivery charge may apply.

Please note 24 hour orders can only be placed by telephone by calling the Supporter Care team on 0345 845 1945.

Our network of overseas branches and volunteers may be available to place a wreath on your behalf at a number of cemeteries around the world.

Wreath Etiquette – handling and placing wreaths

Regular-sized wreaths:
Wreaths have a place on the round for you to place your hand in and grip it. The wreath should be held in front of your body with it facing outward.

Larger-sized wreaths:
If you are handling a large wreath it may have come with a Wreath Holder to help you grip it when placing.

The wreath should be placed at the memorial facing outwards. After placing the wreath, the Wreath Layer should then take a step backwards, bow their head, and then return to their place.

Wreaths are generally placed in order of protocol for dignitaries, generally decided by the Branch/County / District beforehand.

Learn more about the Order of Precedence.

The removal of wreaths is generally carried out by either the Council or Branch/County/District. Most memorials already have a system for removal in place.
